This website is designed to be a lasting tribute to Ray Deter, 1957-2011, a pioneering and groundbreaking bar owner in New York City and New Orleans. When Ray (with Dennis Zentek) opened 'd.b.a.' in Manhattan in 1994, a bar with a total focus on craft beers (it was NYC's first with cask beer in modern times) and quality spirits, the oasis in the desert was finally with us - and was no mirage. The way was paved for New York City's craft beer revolution to follow its course. Thank you Ray!
